Distance is my new answer to disrespect. I no longer react, I no longer argue, I no longer dive into drama. I simply remove my presence.
Sometimes we want to be understood even more than we want to be loved. Yes,there is a part of us that longs to be loved unconditionally no matter what, but then there is also that other part of us that wants to be loved for who we are. We want an unconditional embrace but not a blind embrace. It is an embrace that is fully conscious, that is aware of the shortcomings of the person you love, aware of their darkness, their shadows, their abysses. It requires knowledge and deep comprehension, a profound intimacy with the one you love for only then can you gain a true understanding of the other person’s values, thoughts, feelings. Only then can you see them as they really are, and it is in that instant when you truly understand them that you can accept them, and embrace them for who they truly are. That is what we all long for! An unconditional embrace that is given knowingly, because if they can love us for what we truly are then that love will last forever and nothing can ever take it from us.

we’re so self absorbed. maybe one day we’ll find the courage to look beyond ourselves & into the unimaginable depths of one another
cw said it best:
be the reason someone feels welcomed, seen, heard, valued, loved and supported
